Inamandla Sewing is a seamstress located in South Africa run by Fundiswa, whose brand identity I developed through the nonprofit Uhambo 8286.
Mood Boards
I created three distinct mood board for Fundiswa, each offering a completely different identity. The first one is high end while showing care, using tans and golds. The second one highlights the culture in her craft, using earthy colors and colors commonly used in South African garments. The third mood board combines the two ideas together, going for a high end but also familiar vibe. Fundiswa ended up going with the third mood board.
Logos
I then presented her with 3 logo choices. After researching several design norms in South Africa, I decided using a sewing needle would be a very important element since logos are very literal over there. Even then, I made sure to have three very distinct logos which have a different feel from each other, while still fitting the mood board Fundiswa chose.
Final Logos
Using the logo Fundiswa chose I gave it a colored variant. Giving it just a bit of color worked well, since it gave it contrast without messing up legibility or recognition.
Business Cards
I then created business cards for her, using a floral pattern to frame the information.
Flyer
The final thing I was required to create for her was her flyer, which had pictures of her work which she provided, along with her contact information and the services she provides.
